Heavy metal....

How I love thee.

=)

I need to change my life.

I'm too pissed off all the time. I need a new place and new people or I am going to lose it.

I hate

Religious fanatics. Of all kinds. Satanism is the most foolish religion of them all. I really, really fucking hate people that feel they need to shove their lifestyle down other peoples' throats. Nothing pisses me off more.

Omegle

Is an interesting place. I've actually had some real conversations on there in the past couple of days.

Greatest heavy metal guitar riffs of all time

Self explanatory.  I'll embed JewTube videos into this post. Not in any particular order.

And of course...

I'm probably forgetting a lot. But these are the ones that came to mind for now. Hail!

Burzum - Filosofem

I've loved this album for quite some time, and I love putting it on right as I go to sleep.  It's perfect, the best atmospheric black metal release and the only one I will bother listening to.  To me, Burzum is the ultimate "black metal" band and all imitators should be shot on sight.  None can capture the magic Vikernes can.

DIY Punk Vest + ATHF Mural

I thought I'd make a post to show off some of the cool shit that I've made while being bored alone in my house. First off, is a punk vest I made out of an old leather jacket and studs from an old belt of mine. I put studs on the shoulders and the front of a leather jacket, and cut off the sleaves. It's pretty awesome, I made an inverted cross out of studs on the back as well.

Like I said, I'm very, very proud of this.  Now time for a ATHF Mural I drew on my wall above my computer while I was jacked up on painkillers for my wisdom teeth.  (lol)

I might post some LEGO sculptures I did of NES characters as well, but I dunno.  Don't quite feel like it right now.

I'M FUCKING BORED

I wish I knew people so I could at least get high or something. I want to start a fucking band, play airsoft, and find a girl. I seriously hope college doesn't suck as bad as high school did. FUCK!!!!!!!

Today...

I went to the book store, found Lords of Chaos and hid it so no one could read it. I should have moved it to the fiction section, or bought it and burned it.

After I did that, I found Mustaine's biography and read parts of it, and I have to admit it was interesting. Even though he's a complete tool bag nowadays, and so are the guys in Metallica, he is a genius musician. I love his guitar style.

That video pretty much sums up his melodic thrash skill. The only riffs missing from this perfect medley are the ones from "Jump in the Fire", the opening riff is probably one of my favorites of all time. Hail 80s thrash metal!!!! KILL POSERS!!!!!

Never Mind the Bollocks

Here's the fucking Sex Pistols.  Probably one of the greatest bands of all time.

Some fascinating history behind this shit too.  I know I'm incredibly late on this but their bassist, Sid Vicious was a heroin addict who was framed for the killing of his girlfriend, was arrested and sent to rehab, then overdosed once he got out and died.  His mother found a suicide note in his jacket that said he had a death pact with the girl he killed and asked to be buried in a leather jacket, motorcycle boots, and jeans.

He was regarded as a shitty bass player by everyone, even the god Lemmy from Motorhead.  He seems like he was a sweet guy though, so R.I.P. Sid Vicious, February 2, 1979.

It's a punk rock day today, Bad Religion, Sex Pistols, and some crack rock steady.  I saw It's Kind of a Funny Story, the most stupid indie rock movie of all time but I still enjoyed it because I can pretty much enjoy any movie.  Zach Galifianakis, as expected, had an amazing performance.  That guy can do no wrong.  One bit I thought was really hilarious was when they showed him playing the piano and singing during the film, something he regularly does in his stand-up routines, WHICH ARE FUCKING HILARIOUS. If you want to see the funniest thing that guy ever did watch this video:

Guns

I got an automatic electric airsoft gun yesterday, but it came with no charger.  So today, I have to go out and buy one.  I'm either going to spend money on that or the theater and I CAN'T DECIDE, I CAN'T DECIDE!  I CONCEAL MY FEELINGS SO I DON'T HAVE TO EXPLAIN!

Speaking of punk rock, I'm listening to Bad Religion right now and they're the shit.  If anyone reads this and wants to get a better idea of my music taste go to www.last.fm/user/THESHAKEZULAH and add me.  I can't respond to messages right now but I'll be able to soon.

TODAY WILL BE BORING AS FUCK

My fucking guitar amp broke.

I need to get out of the house. Fuck.

BUSITN' MY BALLS

That is what Last.FM is currently doing.  I haven't been able to post a shout or update my profile for like 4 days and it's really fuckin' annoying.

I've been listening to nothing but thrash for the past few days because I've recently felt a need to expand my musical knowledge.  I've been sort of depressed as a result of being disappointed with the current hardcore scene in America, because it's so stagnant and superficial.  I started to realize the only reason why I liked it in the first place was because the music made me want to punch people in the face and it wasn't something I could just sit down and enjoy.  I forgot my roots in heavy metal, and I recently rediscovered them.  I'm never looking back!

I've been watching a lot of musical documentaries recently and it's amazing how much of an impact Nirvana has had on two music styles I really like: hardcore/punk and thrash.  In the early nineties, the stagnation I referred to earlier was beginning to occur in both of these styles.  All the big thrash bands were selling out and punk rock turned into tough guy hardcore and stuff like Rancid/NOFX.  Then, Nirvana came along and totally killed the thrash bands' arena rock boner and some people say that they carried on punk rock's torch in place of more rock and roll stuff like I mentioned earlier.  I'm not too clear on this because I was born around the time all this happened (OMG U POZER) but to me Rancid and NOFX still seem more punk than Nirvana ever did.  Kurt Cobain was just some emo drug addict kid that really wanted to be famous and like punk rock, and created grunge.  While I applaud him for effectively killing off the thrash bands trying to sell out (THEY HAVE BETRAYED US ALL!) I just don't see the punk rock connection.  Honestly, Nirvana isn't really anything special either.  They're not bad but they're just a rock band, and I prefer bands that played in their style of rock that came later, and played heaver, like Chevelle for example.  That was one of the first rock 'n roll bands I really liked when I was a kid.

With all this said, I think thrash is probably my favorite sub-genre of metal right now because of the impact it's had on the scene.  From it stemmed both the black and death styles, and it's basically a combination of bands like Priest and The Sex Pistols.  Which, is fucking awesome.  I love how guitar centric it is, how varied the riffs are, how fast it's played, the heaviness, and the FUCKING GUITAR SOLOS HOLY MOTHER OF SHIT.  It's a genre I hadn't had much appreciation for until recently.  I mean, believe me, I've liked stuff such as Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Kreator for a while but I haven't really dove into the history and tried to uncover more underground bands and obscure gems like I have recently.  I mean,  listening to stuff such as Norway's Aura Noir which plays an awesome blackened thrash style, super old school, signed to Fenriz' Tyrant Syndicate label.  There are so many great thrash bands I could talk about it forever.

One thing that has really succeeding in pissing me off more than anything right now, though, is modern "black metal".  You know what I'm talking about, modern stupid bullshit like Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth, and Gorgoroth.  Cashing in on the image of the early nineties, fueling a trend, causing stagnation and the loss of creativity which is exactly what black metal was started to go against in the first place.  I don't understand how bullshit like this happens.  As you can probably tell from my background, I worship at the unholy altar of Darkthrone and appreciate their newer metal punx efforts more than anything I've heard recently.  Their whole catalog is pretty much one of the most impressive I've ever encountered in metal, and a band as versatile and true as Darkthrone should not be ignored by anyone that causes them a heavy metal fan.  Fenriz is my fucking role model.

WELCOME TO MY BLOG.... and I hope you enjoy all the other angsty posts that are sure to come after this one.
